The architectural design concept of the 1929 Barcelona International Exposition was so unique that there was no suitable furniture to match it. Therefore, the design master Ludwig Mies van der Rohe had to specially design the Barcelona Chair to welcome the King and Queen of Spain. Its unique design was a conceptual-level product at that time, and it caused a sensation as soon as it was exhibited. Since then, the Barcelona Chair has gained immense popularity.
Today, the Barcelona Chair has become one of Ludwig Mies van der Rohe's iconic furniture pieces and also one of the star products in the vintage furniture field.
